Charlie McGarty

Founder/CEO

Charlie has worked in the recovery field for many years. He started by creating wellness programs for inpatient treatment centers in 2014. This is where he found his passion for getting the recovery community physically active. Charlie saw there was a huge need for recovery related wellness services. In 2016 he moved to Austin and started working individually with clients at the Townlake YMCA. Charlie founded Active Recovery Coaching in 2017 and opened a 3,000 square-foot facility, where he and other ARC coaches offer individual recovery coaching combined with life skills, nutrition and physical training. ARC also provides wellness programming for treatment centers around Austin, and consults with centers outside the Austin area. Through Charlie’s partnerships with Austin sober living homes, he saw a need for homes specifically catering to wellness and recovery coaching. Active Recovery Homes is the next step in providing wellness programming in the recovery continuum of care.

Active Recovery Homes Women’s Program Director

Limor, a native Texan whose battle with drugs and alcohol began at fifteen, found her path to recovery despite seven stints in treatment centers. Achieving sobriety in 2017, she sought to bolster her mental health through fitness, discovering its transformative power. Now a leader in women’s recovery, Limor channels her experiences into helping others, fostering personal connections and promoting positive growth. Alongside her work as Co-Owner and Executive Director of Active Recovery Homes, she actively participates in and champions the principles of various recovery programs, combining empathy with strategic planning to guide others towards lasting recovery in a structured, nurturing environment.

Keith Morton

Men's operations

Keith Morton is a college graduate with a decade in the hospitality industry, including management. After struggling with addiction for many years, he found his way to the other side and the freedom that only an addiction-free life can provide. He credits his sustained recovery to ARC and its pioneering model of recovery through adopting an active lifestyle. With a strong foundation in the 12 steps, he branched out to grow his recovery. Part of his journey was discovering the value of fitness, concentrating on weights and strength training, and recognizing its part in the holistic approach of mind, body and spirit toward sustained wellness. Today, he applies his personal experiences and his certification as a personal trainer to help guide others who are struggling to navigate the peaks and valleys of early sobriety. He highlights the importance of goal setting and discipline in the gym to help translate these values into the real world.

Rachel McIntosh

Women’s Operations

Rachel oversees women’s operations at Active Recovery Homes in addition to serving as an ARC coach. Her approach with clients combines many values from her own recovery. She attributes honesty and accountability as imperative to sustainable, long-term recovery. As a former client who also served as house manager, Rachel brings love and compassion to clients that are walking in the same shoes she once did. Working with others and showing clients the hope and freedom that a recovered life offers is something that was given to Rachel, and she continues to give back.
